I have returned to Johannesburg. This is (a) a holiday, (b) some catching up with friends, (c) seeing where I stand with a certain hot SA male friend (but sadly, see below), (d) attending an interview for a possible job in Cape Town and (e) reflecting on what I want to do with my life and where I want to live (again!).

Question (c) has been resolved, in the negative - bwaah! Wynand (the hot mining engineer) is dating an Afrikaaner girl called Vittoria. You can guess what's she's like - blonde, blue eyed, that lovely Afrikaaner accent and of course absolutely gorgeous. Bleh! My track record with men remains the same.

I'll head north to Accra next week, to see some other friends from Australia (there are lots of Australians in Ghana, mainly in the mining industry) and late in October, I'll head to Cape Town for a job interview. I'm in 2 minds about living in SA - I have always loved the place but the law and order situation seems to be getting worse. Nearly every house in Joburg is surrounded by a high wall, with razor wire and an electronic security system. Many of my friends in SA live in gated suburbs.
