In the last 2-3 years, I've dated a couple of guys who switched off as soon as they found that I was a solicitor (lawyer, for you North American types). 

It wasn't the fact that I was a lawyer which turned them off (in spite of lawyers in Australia, like everywhere else, having some big image problems). What made it hard for them to go out with me (and perhaps develop a relationship with me) was that I earned more money than them - in one case, lots more.

Men are strange like that.

From a man's point of view, a woman who earns more than him is a challenge to his "maleness". Feminism still hasn't resolved some things.

Men remain different.
